A1GP: Summerton Gives USA First Win
Switzerland takes sprint race and edges closer to title.

Team USA’s Jonathan Summerton took the nation’s first-ever A1 Grand Prix win in the second race of the Shanghai doubleheader.

Second on the grid, the American youngster outdragged championship points leader Switzerland of ex-Champ Car driver Neel Jani and led to the checkered flag, beating Portugal’s Filipe Albuquerque by nearly 10 seconds.

Ireland’s Adam Carroll completed the podium, ahead of New Zealand’s Jonny Reid and Jani, who was relegated to fifth after suffering gearbox problems.

In the sprint event, Jani won ahead of Canada’s Robert Wickens and Albuquerque. Summerton retired on the first lap.
