ALMS: American Le Mans Mailbag

Want to talk shop about the American Le Mans Series? Got a question you want an answer to? Email us your questions, and we'll compile the best from each week and answer them in our new 'ALMS Mailbag' feature. (Photo: Marshall Pruett) ยป More Photos

Why are the diesel prototypes nearly silent? Which team has the best catering? Will cellulosic E85 ethanol hurt the Corvette Racing team? Will Michael Schumacher be racing in the 12 Hours of Sebring? What exactly is 'Green Racing'? Will the new Porsche GT2 car be fast enough to challenge the Ferrari F430’s? What does a driver do if nature calls in the middle of a race?

You have American Le Mans questions? We have American Le Mans answers. You have American Le Mans rants and raves? We have the number to a good psychiatrist for you.

Sportscar racing has always been the domain of highly involved, highly curious, and surprisingly vocal fans – it’s nearly impossible to watch prototypes and GT cars battle without wanting to learn more about the cars, the drivers, the history, and the technologies involved.

We pride ourselves in our American Le Mans coverage, so beginning this
week, we’re starting the “American Le Mans Mailbag’, a place where any and all questions related to Le Mans-style racing are welcomed.

We’ll pick from the best questions we get each week and compile them into a reply every Wednesday. If I can’t answer your question directly, I’ll reach out to someone in the series, the paddock, or one of the suppliers to help answer those questions.

So, fire away with your questions, observations, manifests, and anything else you think might make into the weekly mailbag responses and we’ll do our best to inform and entertain you. Be sure to tell us who you are and where you're from so we can credit you properly each week. Keep an eye out for our first mailbag next Wednesday, February 20th.
