Audi officially confirmed its entry for the 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Monday, revealing that it will bring two R18 e-tron quattros to the American Le Mans Series season-opener.

This year's around-the-clock classic will mark the final time LMP1 cars will be eligible to race, as the premier prototype category will not be carried over to the unified sports car championship in 2014.

"We’re in for a very emotional race weekend on which we’ll be taking the fans along on a journey into our past," said Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. "Sebring is where Audi’s sports car era that has been so successful began.

"We expect that with two current hybrid models we’ll be battling for overall victory at the 12-hour race for the last time this year. At the same time, on the fringes of the race, the fans can look forward to seeing four other race cars and several race drivers who made history at Sebring with Audi."

Audi will run both a 2012-spec R18 e-tron quattro as well as the latest development diesel-powered hybrid. Reigning FIA World Endurance Champions Marcel Fassler and Benoit Treluyer will be joined by Oliver Jarvis in one car, with Lucas di Grassi, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish set to pilot the other Audi entry.

The German manufacturer boasts an impressive record at Sebring, with ten overall victories and 22 podium finishes in just 13 starts.

In addition to its two-car commitment, Audi will have a significant presence off track as well, with plans for an exhibit looking back at the brand's sports car era at Sebring. Former Audi factory drivers will be on hand to sign autographs.
