BAR1 Motorsports will return to the American Le Mans Series with a planned two-car full-season effort in the Prototype Challenge category for this season.

The Ohio-based team, run under the Merchant Services Racing banner in 2012, confirmed late last week that it has retained Kyle Marcelli, who will be joined in the No. 8 Oreca FLM09 by fellow Canadian Chris Cumming for the ten-round championship.

Sports car racing veteran Stefan Johansson, recently downgraded to Silver ranking by the FIA, will complete the car's lineup for the endurance races.

The lineup for the team's No. 7 entry will be announced following this week's ALMS Winter Test, where both cars will take part in the two-day test at Sebring International Raceway. Chapman Ducote, however, has already been confirmed as the third driver in the car.

"We've made a lot of headway," team manager Brian Alder said. "We're in a new shop, we've put both cars through rigorous refurbishing and built up a strong compliment of spare parts and components. We've revisited everyone's role within the team and put together a very competitive driver line up... including our third driver options for the longer events. We're prepared for a serious run at the championship.

"I'm pleased to continue our relationship with Merchant Services. We've had a long standing relationship and together with Chapman Ducote, they've been a great asset to our team. Chapman will be on hand as a third driver in the No. 7 car. I'm hoping his new role as a cast member of the reality show, Kim and Kourtney Take Miami, will bring some added exposure to the team and our program."
