ALMS: Conquest Switches To Nissan Power

While having started its American Le Mans Series campaign with a Judd engine, Conquest Endurance will be making the switch to Nissan power for its Morgan P2, beginning with this weekend’s Grand Prix of Long Beach.
The Eric Bachelart-owned team, which earned a third-place class finish in last month’s Twelve Hours of Sebring, will become the first ALMS team to run the highly successful NISMO-prepared 4.5-liter V8 powerplant, in a partnership between Conquest and Nissan North America.
Last year, the Nissan VK45DE achieved LMP2 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans as well as top honors in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and European Le Mans Series.
“Nissan has proven to be the leader in sports car racing and we are very happy to have their engine powering our LMP2 car," Bachelart said. "This partnership solidifies our package in the ALMS and gives us the right tools to go out and win races."
Conquest's No. 37 entry of Martin Plowman, David Heinemeier Hansson and late addition Jan Heylen utilized Judd power for the ALMS season-opener, a decision that was made due to the short time frame in the run-up to the race.
The team has since spent the past few weeks making the switch, with Plowman completing a successful test at Putnam Park last weekend with its new Nissan powerplant.
Conquest will again do battle with the pair of Level 5 Motorsports HPD ARX-03bs as well as the Black Swan Racing Lola B11/80 Honda, which will see the driving debut of Jeroen Bleekemolen this weekend.
