Muscle Milk Pickett Racing continued to show the upper hand at Mid-Ohio, as Klaus Graf led the way in Friday's opening practice for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge.

Klaus Graf took his No. 6 HPD ARX-03a to a best time of 1:12.185, edging out the improving No. 16 Dyson Racing Lola B12/60 Mazda of Guy Smith by 0.936 seconds.

Smith turned a 1:13.121 in the final moments of the one-hour session, which put he and co-driver Chris Dyson the closest to Muscle Milk's Graf and Lucas Luhr so far this weekend.

P2 saw the No. 055 Level 5 Motorsports ARX-03b of Christophe Bouchut go quickest again, thanks to the Frenchman's 1:15.173 lap time. He edged out the No. 37 Conquest Endurance Morgan-Nissan of Martin Plowman by 0.224 seconds.

The top two P2 cars slotted in third and fourth quickest overall, ahead of the No. 20 Dyson Lola B11/66 Mazda of Michael Marsal, who was fifth and third in P1.

Colin Braun topped the time charts in PC, with a 1:17.068 lap time in the No. 05 CORE autosport Oreca FLM09. The No. 9 RSR Racing machine of Bruno Junqueira was second.

In GT, the No. 45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche of Patrick Long was quickest, having posted a fast lap of 1:20.511 just prior to having an off-course excursion in Turn 3.

Long, however, continued without any damage and completed the session.

Corvette Racing slotted in second and third quickest in class, with Oliver Gavin's 1:20.631 a mere 0.05 seconds quicker than teammate Jan Magnussen in the No. 3 Corvette C6.R.

The No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche of Marco Holzer was fourth, while the debuting SRT Vipers ended up 11th and 13th quickest, respectively.

GTC saw the No. 66 TRG Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car quickest in the five-car field.

Thirty two cars turned laps in the morning session, including the No. 27 Dempsey Racing Lola B12/80, which sat out Thursday's action. Dane Cameron has been added to the lineup for this weekend although it's unclear if he'll drive in the race alongside Patrick Dempsey and Joe Foster.

Practice 2 is on tap for 11:15 a.m., immediately followed by qualifying.
