Following his impressive performance with Oryx Dyson Racing last year, Steven Kane has been retained by the defending American Le Mans Series LMP1 champions for next month's season-opening 60th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Dyson Racing confirmed Monday that the 32-year-old Irshman will team with Chris Dyson and Guy Smith in the team's new Lola B12/60 Mazda, the only entry for the Poughkeepsie, N.Y.-based outfit for the around-the-clock Florida classic.

“It is great to be back with Dyson Racing and with Chris and Guy,” Kane said. “It is a privilege to come back and drive with the two champions of the ALMS. This will be my first time at Sebring and it is a race that I have always wanted to take part in and have heard so much about over the years.

"With the World Endurance Championship joining us, there will be a lot of new cars and with our new Lola, it will be an exciting time for everyone. I just can’t wait to get there, learn the track and be part of such an iconic event.”

Kane competed in a partial ALMS season with Dyson last year, which saw he and Oryx team owner Humaid al Masaood claim victory at the Baltimore Grand Prix in September and impressed many during his rookie season.

While Oryx has moved its focus to the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series with a GT-class Audi R8 program, Kane has been retained for Sebring, with the possibility of additional races this season.

“Steven opened up many eyes last year,” Chris Dyson said. “On tracks he had never seen before, in a new car, he was always quick right off the bat and impressed everyone on the team. He made a name for himself in short order and Guy and I are glad he will be back with us for the Sebring race.

"He is a Dyson driver in every sense of the word: talented, determined and fast with a personality that has fit right in with our group from day one.”

The status of Dyson's second entry is unknown but Chris Dyson told SPEED.com last month that it could re-appear following its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where they'll field two Lola-Mazdas.
