On the heels of Dyson Racing's withdrawal from the 24 Hours of Le Mans has come news of the addition of Johnny Mowlem to the team's driving strength for a handful of American Le Mans Series races.

The veteran Brit will join Chris Dyson and Guy Smith in the team's Lola B12/60 Mazda for next month's six-hour American Le Mans Series Monterey at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca as well as the four-hour enduro at Virginia International Raceway in September. It's believed additional races are also likely for the 43-year-old.

Mowlem, a factory Lotus driver, got his first taste of the new P1-class contender in a test at Sebring earlier this month.

“Johnny is a winning driver who has a deep and competitively diversified resume,” said Chris Dyson. “He will be a natural addition to our team. Johnny will also be racing with us at the four-hour enduro at Virginia International Raceway in September and will be part of our ongoing car development program.

"We are excited about our expanded effort and the 2012 season. We had a great battle with our friends at Muscle Milk all last year and as Sebring and Long Beach showed, this year promises to be even better.”

Steven Kane joined Dyson and Smith in last month's 60th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring but the Irishman has focused his season-long efforts in GRAND-AM this year.

Dyson is expected to run only a single-car effort at Mazda Raceway, as its No. 20 Lola B11/66 Mazda of Michael Marsal and Eric Lux, which debuted last weekend at Long Beach, is scheduled for the five sprint races this season.

However, Chris Dyson told SPEED.com last weekend there's a "very good chance" of seeing the team's third Lola-Mazda surface later this summer, potentially as soon as the fourth round of the season at Lime Rock in July.
