Muscle Milk Pickett Racing led the way in Thursday's night practice at Road Atlanta, as American and European Le Mans Series teams gear up for the 15th annual Petit Le Mans.

Lucas Luhr laid down a best lap of 1:11.545 in the two-hour session, with the German's HPD ARX-03a outpacing the No. 12 Rebellion Racing Lola B12/60 Toyota of Neel Jani by 0.10 seconds.

The No. 16 Dyson Racing Lola B12/60 Mazda was third in the hands of Guy Smith, followed by the P2 class pace-setting Level 5 Motorsports HPD ARX-03b of Marino Franchitti, who turned a 1:13.853.

Level 5 topped OAK Racing's Olivier Pla for the first time of the day, who managed to put in the second time of the session but still quickest of the ELMS P2 contingent.

After getting taken out in a rollover accident on Wednesday, the Nissan DeltaWing returned to action, with Gunnar Jeannette and Lucas Ordonez completing 12 laps in the experimental car. Ordonez's 1:17.292 lap time was good enough for 12th overall.

Flying Lizard Motorsports topped the time charts in GT, thanks to a 1:20.202 lap time by Joerg Bergmeister. The class championship-winning No. 4 Corvette C6.R of Oliver Gavin was second quickest, followed by the Guy Cosmo-driven No. 02 Extreme Speed Motorsports Ferrari in third.

PC was paced by the No. 8 Merchant Services Oreca FLM09 of Kyle Marcelli, while Matt Griffin was quickest of the GTE-Am duo aboard his No. 60 AF Corse Ferrari.

Damien Faulkner posted the quickest time in GTC aboard his Green Hornet Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

All 42 entries turned laps during the session, with the only major incident being an accident by the No. 37 Conquest Endurance Morgan-Nissan of Eric Lux and Ryan Hunter-Reay's SRT Viper GTS-R.

The newly crowned IndyCar champion's Viper was returned to the pits on a flat bed, with the status of both cars unclear at the moment.

Practice 4 is on tap for Friday at 10:30 a.m. ET.
