PatrĂ³n Highcroft Racing is reaching out to fans through new Twitter and Facebook initiatives.

Patrón Highcroft Racing has unveiled two new online initiatives that will provide fans of the popular American Le Mans Series Acura factory squad with a unique behind-the-scenes look at its 2009 LMP1 assault.

The Danbury-based team and its Title Sponsor, Tequila Patron, already provide extensive fan information through their websites at http://www.highcroftracing.com and http://www.patrontequila.com/racing/ with a video crew and a team of photographers following every move.

Video content is also available for download as a podcast via iTunes and also online on YouTube.

For 2009, additional content will be available via the popular social network site, Facebook, and micro-blogging service, Twitter.

Facebook is the world's largest and fastest growing social network with more than 150 million users world-wide. The Patrón Highcroft Racing Facebook fan page will act as a portal for the team's online initiatives - providing a sample of the content available online at http://www.highcroftracing.com and http://www.patrontequila.com/racing/ as well as additional content that will be exclusive to the Facebook page.

Patrón Highcroft Racing fans will also be able to post their own photos, videos and content to the Facebook page. To become a fan of the team on Facebook - follow this link http://www.highcroftracing.com/facebook

The new Twitter initiative will enable fans to obtain up-to-the-minute updates from the pitlane at all American Le Mans Series events.

Twitter enables users to post 140 character posts - short snippets of information that can also include links to images, news updates and geographical locations. Updates can be made via the Twitter website or via specific Twitter applications for PCs and mobile computing devices including phones.

Founded in 2006, Twitter was used extensively by the Barrack Obama Presidential campaign. Major news organizations such as CNN, New York Times, NPR also utilize the service.

"We are certainly aware that Patrón Highcroft Racing has become extremely popular with the fans and our goal for 2009 is to reward those fans with even greater behind-the-scenes access," Patrón Highcroft Racing team owner, Duncan Dayton said.

"These online initiatives are a great way to reward that fan loyalty. We can't have every single fan join us in the pit lane, but these online tools will allow us to do that virtually.

"These initiatives are just the first step of our upgraded online activities for 2009. We have recently launched a new media website and will soon undertake an upgrade of our team website as well.

"We want to provide added value for Patrón, Acura, Honda Performance Development and our other marketing partners as well as providing a more comprehensive service for the media.

"We are really looking at the web as not only just building our own brand on our own site - but taking our message to sites where the online community is already visiting on daily basis like Facebook, YouTube, etc."

Patrón Highcroft Racing will make its 2009 American Le Mans Series debut in the LMP1 class in March with Scott Sharp, David Brabham and Dario Franchitti contesting the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
