ALMS Video: In-Car Theater: Mosport, Lowe’s Acura LMP2
Written by: Marshall Pruett

The Lowe's Acura makes a number of strong passes on the way to 2nd place at Mosport last Sunday. ยป More Photos

Lowe's Fernandez Racing came away from Mosport last Sunday with their best finish of the season thanks to heady driving and smart calls on fuel strategy.

Their day ended in stark contrast to many other LMP2 cars that either race out of E10 fuel or were forced to do a splash-and-dash, giving up valuable track position with just minutes to go in the 2 hour 45-minute race.

Watching from inside the #15 Acura, it's plain to see how Luis Diaz and Adrian Fernandez approached the race slightly different than their competitors. Missing are the desperate passes and egregious blocking they'd see others practice. The Mexican duo performed a number of impressive passes and drove with maturity and focus; 2nd place was a just reward for their efforts.

Enjoy the viewing guide while watching the in-car video:

(:08) Opening two laps--not a bad start.
(2:21) That wasn’t very sporting of Diaz’s fellow Acura driver, now was it?
(2:37-2:42) Aren’t there rules to prohibit repeated weaving and blocking?
(3:11-3:20) Perfectly executed. A classic pass.
(3:38-4:05) That’s a spry and feisty Mazda, don’t you think?
(5:14-8:12) Luis has company. Interesting to see where he gains and loses time. Great camera angle.
(9:04-9:11) Rather than return the favor and swerve to block the #26 on entry to the perilously fast turn 8, Diaz concedes the corner with class.
(9:54) Whoooosh.
(10:54-11:00) A mighty
brave pass right at the turn-in point.
(11:05-14:49) The final few laps. Adrian is having to duck and dodge Flying Lizard Porsche’s left and right.
(14:23) Poor Gil -- out of fuel and parked with half a lap to go. This elevates Brabham/Sharp to 1st and Fernandez/Diaz to 2nd. Another strong day for Acura.
