Danica Patrick continued to impress Sunday morning at Daytona International Speedway during the final day of open practice for the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards.

Danica Patrick Debut Review

Patrick had another good session Sunday morning at DIS as she prepares to make her stock-car competition debut, which will come Feb. 6, 2010 in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 ARCA race.

On Sunday, Patrick got her No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Impala into the top 10, turning a best lap of 180.238 miles per hour around the 2.5-mile superspeedway. A total of 63 drivers participated in the three-day open test.

Topping the speed charts Sunday morning was JAM Motorsports driver Robb Brent at 182.741 mph. The three Venturini Motorsports Chevrolets of Mikey Kile, Alii Owens and Steve Arpin were second, fourth and sixth, respectively, with Bryan Silas third and Patrick Sheltra fifth. Patrick ended the session 10th.

Patrick’s crew chief, Tony Eury Jr., said he was pleased with his driver’s progress.

“It's great to work with her,” said Eury. “She's got a great personality. She likes having fun but she knows how to be serious at the same time. Just how quick she's adapted to the cars because there's a lot more travel, there's a lot more movement. The cars are a lot heavier than the cars she's typically been around and they've got less downforce so the way she's picked up on it she's done a great job.”

Eury said Patrick’s attitude was a big plus. “She's cool. She's a blast to be around and all of the guys here are having fun with her,” he said. “It's just fun having a person with her caliber of popularity to come in here and have a good time. It's fun to be around people like that that have a good outlook on life.”

The final session takes place this afternoon from 1-5 p.m.
