Danica Patrick ended her first serious venture into the stock-car world on a high note Sunday afternoon, as she was fifth-fastest in the final session of open practice for the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards at Daytona International Speedway.

In the second session on the third and last day of practice at DIS, Patrick cranked off a best lap of 182.028 miles per hour in her No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Impala. That was her best performance of the weekend, which featured 63 drivers — including 10 women — posting times at the historic 2.5-mile superspeedway.

ARCA will open its 2010 season at Daytona, with the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 on Feb. 6. That race will be Patrick’s first in stock-car after years of racing IndyCars and the occasional sports car.

Patrick Sheltra was the fastest driver Sunday afternoon, with a fast lap of 183.016 mph. He was trailed by Robb Brent, who had been fastest Sunday morning, Mark Thompson, Sean Corr and Patrick.
