Defending ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Frank Kimmel has announced that he will be driving a Ford Fusion sponsored by Stewart’s Root Beer and built by long-time ARCA RE/MAX Series team owner/driver Bob Schacht for this weekend’s Loud Energy Drink 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Schacht, a long time owner and driver in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, will also compete in the NJMP event on Sunday, marking a return to the driver’s seat for the first time since 2000. Both drivers spent Monday preparing their racecars at New Jersey Motorsports Park’s 2.33-mile Thunderbolt Course. They will test at the track on Tuesday.

“I am excited to have Frank run one of my racecars,” said Schacht. “I am trying to rekindle my ARCA RE/MAX Series rental car program, so putting the nine-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion in one of my cars was the best choice for Bob Schacht Motorsports.”

Kimmel has 74 career ARCA RE/MAX Series wins, including three wins in the last four races, the latest of which came on September 13th at Salem Speedway in the Eddie Gilstrap Motors ARCA Fall Classic by Advance Auto Parts. Schacht has 19 career ARCA RE/MAX Series wins as a driver.

Additional ARCA RE/MAX Series drivers will be testing at NJMP on Tuesday in preparation for the Sunday, September 28th Loud Energy Drink 150. The race marks the Series’ first road course appearance since 2001 and the 19th of 21 events on the
2008 season schedule. Tickets are available by visiting www.njmotorsportspark.com.

Kimmel Aiming for a Three-peat

Frank Kimmel has earned ARCA RE/MAX Series race victories in three of the last four races, including the last two consecutive race events. The all-time active Series winner is aiming for a three-peat at New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend. The last time a driver has earned three consecutive race victories was in 2005 when Kimmel won at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, Toledo Speedway and the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.

The record for most consecutive race victories is five, set by Tim Steele in 1997, Bruce Gould in 1973 and Harold Smith in 1961.

First Times the Charm for Schacht

Bob Schacht’s 19 career ARCA RE/MAX Series wins include four victories in which he was the race winner during the ARCA RE/MAX Series’ inaugural appearance to a track. Schacht won in Springfield, Missouri in 1985, St. Louis Int’l Raceway in 1986, Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida in 1995 and at Memphis in 1998. The St. Louis Int’l Raceway event was a road course race on the property that Gateway Int’l Raceway currently sits. The 58-year-old driver also finished second in an ARCA RE/MAX Series road course event at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas in 1992.
Darrell Waltrip, currently retired from NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition, won the event.
