Although only Paul Tracy showed up in a Forsythe car during Champ Car's first 2007 open test at Sebring last month, Jerry Forsythe's operation appears close to retain its two-car status this season – at least according to Jos Verstappen's words.
In his column on Holland's De Telegraaf newspaper, the veteran Dutchman claims to have the necessary funding to land FCR's second seat.
"As far as I'm concerned, I'll be driving for Forsythe Racing," he wrote.
"Unfortunately, that's not for me to decide. The team wants a certain amount of money for the seat - and we can put up that money - [but] there's no deal yet because there's another driver fishing for that seat [...] who is willing to pay more money for the same seat."
That second driver is believed to be Verstappen's countryman Robert Doornbos, who tested with FCR at MSR Houston back in December.
