With Soheil Ayari ruled out of this weekend's Six Hours of Le Castellet due to a muscle injury, GT ace Gianmaria Bruni has been called up to replace the Frenchman at the wheel of the Pecom Racing Oreca 03 Nissan for the European Le Mans Series season-opener.

Bruni will join team regulars Pierre Kaffer and Luis Perez Companc at the wheel of the AF Corse-run LMP2 machine, marking the rapid Italian's first prototype drive in nearly a decade.

The former Formula One driver piloted a Durango-Judd in the FIA Sportscar Championship in 2002, a year which also saw his first sports car victory in the Six Hours of Vallelunga. He's since gone on to multiple championships in FIA GT, ELMS and last year's Intercontinental Le Mans Cup with AF Corse and Ferrari.

Pecom, which is undertaking a dual season program in the FIA World Endurance Championship and ELMS, expects Ayari to be fit in time for the next FIA WEC round, the Six Hours of Spa, in May.
