ELMS: High Hopes For Ram Racing
Introducing Britain’s newest GT team and its North American racing ambitions...
Q: What are the team’s goals for the season?
SHUFFLEBOTTOM: We're an ambitious team, so I don't see any reason why we wouldn't be able to go and be at the front in the Pro-Am class. That's our goal. If we're not at the front of the grid, I think everybody will be disappointed.
Q: What about long-term aspirations into 2014 and beyond?
SHUFFLEBOTTOM: We do have some idea of what we want to do. ALMS is something that certainly interests us. But we want to see what happens with the merger before we commit to it. WEC is also an option for us. The ELMS championship is quite a relaxed calendar with only five races. We want to go do something that challenges us in every way.
So we certainly want to go do some bigger stuff. We also are not going to tie ourselves to GT-only either. We'd be up for doing prototypes.
Q: Is a U.S. program in the unified series a realistic possibility?
SHUFFLEBOTTOM: We're waiting to see how it shapes up. Obviously a lot of our mechanics have done ALMS before. For them, they'd like to back there and do it. For the team, it would be another new challenge.
Depending on our 2014 plans, we may do a race or two in the States later this year.
