Following its announcement of an American Le Mans Series GT-class effort with Alex Job Racing, Lotus Motorsport announced last week that it’s joined forces with Italian outfit Giudici Racing to enter the European Le Mans Series with its Evora GTE.

The team, to be known as Lotus Giudici Racing, will feature Lotus factory driver Johnny Mowlem, with the remainder of the single-car, GTE-Pro lineup to be announced at a later date.

“Having already announced our American Le Mans Series team, Lotus-AJR, it’s great to now announce our entry in the European Le Mans Series,” said Lotus Motorsport director Claudio Berro.

“Last year marked the Evora GTE’s first year of competition. It was a foundation year, which proved promising, and by now splitting programs between these two prestigious series I hope we’ll be able to further hone the GTE into a title contender.”

Giudici is no stranger to Lotus, as the squad ran an Evora GT4 in the Blancpain Endurance Series last year, finishing second in the GT4 Cup.

“Gianni Giudici has long been one of Lotus Racing’s most important customers, and creating this official partnership makes perfect sense,” Berro added. “He has been very successful in endurance racing, and has the capability to run the car at a very high level. With Lotus’ technical support this will be a good combination for the European platform.”

The five-round ELMS season kicks off with the Six Hours of Le Castellet at Paul Ricard on Apr. 1.
