While having considered its options in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Sebastien Loeb Racing announced Wednesday that it plans to enter the European Le Mans Series for 2013, while also submitting an entry request to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The French squad, owned by the nine-time World Rally Champion, will contest the five-round ELMS season with an Oreca 03 Nissan, the same car which Loeb drove at the Le Mans test day last year.

"After getting our feet wet during the 24 Hours of Le Mans Test Day 2012, we want to take the next step," said team manager Dominique Heintz. "Competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans is an important goal and to be part of such a legendary race would be a dream come true.

"This logically comes from a participation in a Le Mans series. We chose the European Le Mans Series, an interesting platform that allows LMP2 cars to fight for the overall win."

No word has been given on the driver lineup for either the ELMS or likely Le Mans attack, although it's believed Loeb will not be a part of either, instead concentrating his efforts on a partial-season WRC campaign as well as a full season in the newly re-launched FIA GT Series in one of his team's McLaren MP4-12c entries.

Loeb will partner McLaren factory driver Alvaro Parente in FIA GT, while the team will also compete in Porsche Carrera Cup France with multiple cars.

Details on the team's ELMS program are still being finalized, according to Heintz.

"We are still in search of partners to finalize this project and to make it successful," he said. "We’re ambitious and we want to do all we can to win. For this, we have to surround ourselves with the best.

"We hope that our efforts will attract people. To be on track at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with a multi-time World Rally champion leading the team, would be unique. The idea of it is very exciting!"
