MSquared Rotax International

The MSquared field would see some new faces at the front on this weekend, beginning with the make up of the first two rows following qualifying. Dylan Stalker took his first Gatorz Karting Cup pole, ahead of Mike Herda, Cameron Jocelyn - moving up from Junior Rotax for the first time - and Matt Ostiguy.

Herda and Jocelyn got the jump on Stalker at the start, but Stalker passed Jocelyn one lap later and retook the lead from Herda on the third tour. He held the point until the twelfth lap, when he was absolutely freight-trained by the rest of the field, dropping him to sixth. Jocelyn was the victor, with Cory Pollock ending the race in second and Herda in third. The race was red-flagged, however, when Jarrod Bradley crashed in the track's fast turn two, collecting Bayan Salehi.

The final, however, saw Pollock storm past Jocelyn at the start into the lead, and begin to check out on the field. Pollock was the winner at this event last year and seemed poised to repeat the win. However, at the race's halfway point, Pollock's kart broke, leaving him a spectator for the race he was winning. Jocelyn inherited the lead, ahead of Ostiguy and Herda. The three ran to the end in that order, with Jocelyn taking his first win in his first International race.

Behind him, Erik Jackson and Stalker finished in fourth and fifth after the original fourth-place finisher, Jacob Pearlman, was penalized for rough driving, and was awarded sixth.

Performance Racing Industry Rotax Junior

With several drivers promising their mom a trophy for their mother's day present, it was Justin Coplen who took pole position for PRI Rotax Junior, ahead of Lou Pagano and Dakota Dickerson.

Things took a very different look in the pre-main, when Dickerson moved into second on the first lap while Pagano fell to fourth. Then Dickerson fell to eighth, leaving Coplen in the lead, ahead of Taylor Miinch, Pagano, and Mason Marotta.

Coplen was the next one to get moved back, falling to fourth while Miinch inherited the lead. Miinch held the spot until the end, while Marotta moved past Pagano to finish in second.

Marotta jumped into the lead at the start of the main, while Coplen followed him through to slot into second, with Miinch and Pagano giving chase. It took Coplen two laps to work past Marotta, and Miinch followed him through and began looking for a way back into the lead. Miinch needed five more laps to work past Coplen to take the lead. Pagano worked past Coplen a short time later and began to hunt for a way past, and with two laps remaining, passed Miinch to take the top spot. It would only last a lap, as Miinch took the point back and led Pagano home. Marotta capped the podium in third.

Full Throttle Karting Club

Angel Matta took pole in the Club class debut, ahead of Scott Weeks and George Patton. Matta and Weeks ran in that order in the premain, while Patton fell back and Russ Jordan gladly picked up the third place.

Matta was unopposed in the final, while Weeks ran similarly unopposed for second. Patton battled through the field to run in third, but when his kart did not come around on the final lap, Robert Switzler would happily inherit third place.

Precision Works DD2

Former Miss Hawaiian Tropic, and Star Mazda competitor Maryeve Dufault took DD2 honors over Thomas Eurton and Ben Blank.

The Gatorz Karting Cup is back in action June 7th, for a night race at Grange Motor Circuit in Apple Valley, California.
