Rebounding from the misfortunes of Road America, SunTrust Racing led the way in the second of three practice sessions Friday at Watkins Glen.

Max Angelelli jumped to the top of the time charts, turning a best time of 1:43.452 in his No. 10 Corvette DP. While it was more than a half-second slower than Richard Westbrook's pace-setting time from the morning, it held as the quickest of the session.

The No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Riley-Ford of Ozz Negri slotted in second quickest, ahead of the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP of Terry Borcheller and David Donohue in fourth.

Starworks Motorsport's No. 8 Riley-Ford of Ryan Dalziel rounded out the top-five. The team's No. 2 machine, which suffered an accident in the morning, did not set a time.

GT was led by the No. 70 SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 of Jonathan Bomarito, who clocked a 1:51.904 lap time in his rotary-powered beast.

The No. 75 Stevenson Motorsports Camaro GT.R was second, ahead of the Dane Cameron-driven No. 42 Team Sahlen's Mazda, which was quickest in the morning session.

The only stoppage of the 60-minute practice came for the No. 17 Burtin Racing Porsche of Claudio Burtin, who spun off into the gravel in Turn 8.

The No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Corvette of Antonio Garcia also made a trip through the kitty litter and was taken behind the wall following the Spaniard's off.

Practice 3 is on tap for 4:15 p.m. ET.

RESULTS: Practice 2
