Burt Frisselle has been signed by Doran Racing to co-drive the No. 47 Ford-powered Dallara entry with Swiss racer Gabriele Gardel. Gardel might not be well-known in the States yet, but will likely be soon enough, having emerged as the 2005 FIA GT Champion and 2006 LeMans Series GT1 Champion before his Rolex Sports Car Series debut in the 2008 Rolex 24 At Daytona.
The two will test the Roush-Yates/Dallara combination in advance of a Mexico City Rolex race debut on April 19th, and will contest the remaining eleven rounds of the 2008 Rolex season.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me and my career,” said Frisselle. “I am looking forward to being a part of the development for this Ford-Dallara combination and I’m grateful for the opportunity Kevin (Doran) has created. Hopefully we can be a competitive factor straight away. With these new manufactures coming into the Rolex Series, I think it’s going to be an exciting time for Rolex fans.”
“This is a very exciting opportunity for me to race in America with Burt as my co-driver with this new Dallara and for a team like Doran Racing,” aded Gardel. “We know we have a lot of work ahead of us, but I am looking forward to working with Burt and Kevin and getting the most out of this package. Burt knows all the tracks and will be a big help for me, and it’s always good to have a fast teammate.”
