Round two of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series proved to be just as much of a nail-biter as the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona in January. In a down-to-the-wire battle following a late caution, the Ganassi Racing Riley-BMW of Scott Pruett narrowly edged out a hard-charging David Donohue in Brumos Racing's Riley-Porsche. The win for Pruett and co-driver Memo Rojas was their second victory at Homestead-Miami Speedway in three years and has put them into an early lead in the Daytona Prototype championship standings.

In the GT category, Jeff Segal and Emil Assentato took top honors in the No. 69 SpeedSource Mazda RX-8, leading home an impressive showing for the rotary rockets. Three Mazdas finished inside the top-four. Leh Keen and James Gue came home third in their No. 41 Dempsey Racing RX-8, while the pole-sitting and Rolex 24 race-winning No. 70 SpeedSource machine of Jonathan Bomarito and Sylvain Trembley finished fourth.
