Former Formula One Champion and racing legend Sir Jackie Stewart will give the starting command for the 50th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Stewart assumed the role after previously announced Grand Marshal A.J. Foyt was forced to cancel his visit due to complications from his recent knee surgery. Foyt is expected to make a full recovery.

Speaking at the drivers meeting prior to the start of the race, Stewart said, “I’m delighted to be the honorary official to start the 50th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 but I’m so sorry the great A.J. couldn’t be with us today. It’s also wonderful to see so many international drivers here to compete in this historic Rolex 24.”
