In a season that started on the Daytona high banks and has seen exciting battles coast-to-coast, the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series draws to a close this weekend at Lime Rock Park, with a number of championships still up for grabs.

In fact, eight titles remain on the line, including the Daytona Prototype Drivers’ and Teams’ championships, along with the GT Manufacturers’ title, heading into Saturday’s two-hour and 45-minute race on the Connecticut bullring (3 p.m. ET, Live! SPEED).

Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas are on the verge of making history, as the Chip Ganassi Racing duo will need to only complete 30 minutes in the race to be crowned DP champions for the third straight year (provided nine or fewer DPs start the race).

Their nearest title rival, Ryan Dalziel in the No. 8 Starworks Motorsport Riley-Ford, made up some ground on the Telmex Riley-BMW last time out at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. But sitting 13 points back on the Ganassi pairing, Dalziel could only be hoping for a miracle on Saturday.

This weekend, Dalziel will be paired with Alex Popow, who trails Action Express Racing’s Darren Law by 8 points in the battle for third in the championship. Law’s former co-driver, David Donohue, is fifth in the title race in the sister AXR Corvette DP, which will be shared by Brian Frisselle for the season finale.

Other contenders for the race win, but already out of the championship hunt, include SunTrust Racing’s Max Angelelli and Ricky Taylor, along with Richard Westbrook and Antonio Garcia, who were winners last time out in Monterey for Spirit of Daytona Racing.

Both SunTrust and SDR, along with GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing, will be flying the flag for Chevrolet as it closes in on the DP Engine Manufacturers’ championship. Riley holds a nearly insurmountable lead in the DP Chassis Manufacturers’ title race as well.

While Jeff Segal, Emil Assentato and the AIM Autosport Team FXDD squad locked up the GT title three weeks ago in California, the Manufacturers Championship remains undecided, with Ferrari, Chevrolet, Mazda and Porsche all left with a mathematical chance of top honors.

Twelve points separate leaders Ferrari from Chevy, the only manufacturer with a serious chance of derailing the Prancing Horse from the coveted Rolex Series crown.

Ferrari will again have some reinforcement this weekend, with Scuderia Corsa entering a F458 Italia Grand Am for Alessandro Balzan and Johannes van Overbeek. Van Overbeek, on loan from Extreme Speed Motorsports, fills in for factory Ferrari driver Olivier Beretta, who is on FIA WEC duty in Bahrain.

The bow-tie’s hopes of the title lies with its two season-long entries from Stevenson Motorsports (Camaro GT.R) and Marsh Racing (Corvette), with Stevenson’s Robin Liddell looking to also consolidate his second place in the Drivers’ Championship.

Another mid-season title contender, Turner Motorsport, is slated to enter two BMW M3s for the first time since the Rolex 24, while Mazda will be hoping to go out with a bang, in what will be the RX-8’s final race in GT. Five of the rotary-powered beasts are entered for the swan-song.

Practice for the Rolex Series gets underway on Friday, with qualifying scheduled on Saturday morning, prior to the 3 p.m. ET green flag. Watch the action Live! on SPEED.
