The wraps came off the third Audi R8 GRAND-AM set to compete in the Rolex Sports Car Series this year, as Limitless Racing launched its new GT-class program Friday evening in New York City.

A new team owned by Dr. Jason Lee, the New Jersey-based operation plans to make its debut next month at New Jersey Motorsports Park, with at least three additional races on its schedule for 2012.

Lee will be joined behind the wheel of the mid-engined sports car by 2011 SCCA Spec Miata National Champion Elivan Goulart, who will also manage Limitless' efforts.

“It’s an amazing opportunity to be a part of a new team and start on the ground floor of building something that is literally limitless," Goulart said. "I look forward to the challenge of building a new team from the ground floor to eventually top of the podium.

"Jason (Lee, owner) is a huge fan of racing and the driving force behind the team, he is providing us the tools to build a great team with amazing potential.”

Goulart, a past NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill winner and SCCA President's Cup award recipient, has recruited his father, Ademir Fedumenti, a 40-year veteran of the sport, to handle the technical and engineering duties.

Lee is fresh off two wins in SCCA competition at VIR, where the team completed a successful test with the car last month.

“The crew we’ve gathered have shown great attention to detail during the long hours they’ve spent preparing the car, and I feel strongly that their focus will be a competitive advantage to deliver results," Lee said.

"Elivan is a great mentor, team manager and a talented driver. He does a great job at managing the team efficiently and smoothly."

In addition to the New Jersey race, the team plans to compete in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Watkins Glen and Lime Rock Park rounds, prior to a planned full-season effort in 2013.

Limitless joins APR Motorsport and Oryx Racing as Rolex Series teams campaigning the Audi R8 GRAND-AM. A fourth Audi could surface later this year.
