Juan Pablo Montoya topped the time charts in the first official practice for this weekend's 51st Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The Chip Ganassi Racing driver peddled his No. 01 Riley-BMW to a best time of 1:40.937, edging out the defending race winners Michael Shank Racing by 1.001 seconds.

The No. 42 Team Sahlen Riley-BMW slotted in third quickest, followed by the sister No. 6 Michael Shank Riley-Ford in fourth.

Starworks Motorsport's No. 2 Riley-Ford completed the top-five in class.

In GT, Magnus Racing led the way, with Andy Lally turning a session-best 1:48.263 in his No. 44 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

The No. 23 Alex Job Racing Porsche and No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia Grand Am completed the top-three in class.

The new GX class was led by David Donohue in the No. 16 Napleton Racing Porsche Cayman S.

Practice 2 is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. ET.
