Spirit of Daytona driver Richard Westbrook will lead the field to the green flag in the championship-deciding final round of GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series action (SPEED, Saturday/3:00 PM ET) after he posted a fast time of 49.091-seconds late in the session at Lime Rock Park.

John Edwards scored his fourth Rolex GT Class pole of the season with a quick time of 53.983-seconds in the No. 57 Stevenson Motorsports Camaro GT.R, with Andrew Davis slated to start alongside him in the No. 59 Brumos Porsche as the GT field is set to wage battle for GRAND-AM Manufacturer Championship honors and one final victory on the season.

Westbrook, who led the timesheets on Friday as teams and drivers coped with rainy conditions, has only raced on the road racing bullring once before in his career. But he credited a strong car for his quick re-acclimation to the track and his strong qualifying efforts.

“Luckily it's a short course so there's not too much to remember!” said Westbrook. “But the one new corner for me is the West Bend and I think it's just a ‘close your eyes’ through there and come around under the bridge. It's such a nice track when you have a good car--which I definitely had. We've really hit some form at the end of the year. So when you have a car like that, it's a real joy to drive and you just forget that it's qualifying and you just want to go on and on.”

Pruett held the point with his quick time of 49.184-seconds, but Westbrook found some extra motivation from an old-fashioned source to edge the championship-leading Ganassi pilot for the top spot.

“Around here you can see the leaderboard and I could see it changing and I was thinking this is definitely an exciting one to watch!” said Westbrook. “It was exciting in the car seeing the leaderboard. It was just a question of finding a big enough gap and then going for it when it was right and luckily I got one in because I thought Scott (Pruett) had done enough at the end. For the race, I remember in ALMS this (track) is just don't get hit and don't hit anyone - you have to stay out of trouble. So we're going to try to stay out of trouble and be there at the end. Hopefully on top of the podium!”

SPEED will broadcast the Lime Rock Park 200 Live on SPEED starting at 3:00 p.m. ET.
