Ricardo Zonta is getting ready for his first visit to Barber Motorsports Park for the Porsche 250 presented by Bradley Arant on July 20. But that’s nothing new for the 32-year-old Brazilian. He’s a stranger to virtually every track he visits to co-drive the No. 76 Krohn Racing Pontiac Lola with Nic Jonsson on the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 tour.

“It’s been very good,” Zonta said of his season so far. “It’s a lot of fun to race here in Grand-Am. We’ve had good races. Of course, the results have not been the best because of the small things, but always we are quick in the race, always on the top.”

Zonta paid his second visit to Daytona International Speedway last weekend, finishing third in the Brumos Porsche 250. He finished fourth there earlier in the year, sharing
the Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley with Jonsson and Darren Turner.

“It was a great result for us – for the development of the car, we worked hard to get this far,” Zonta said. “We have to continue to work hard and have everything in the right place at the right moment. I think we are getting close to stepping up higher on the podium.”

Krohn Racing switched to the Proto-Auto Lola following the Rolex 24 At Daytona. After finishing 11th in class in the Lola’s debut at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Zonta and Jonsson finished third at Mexico City. After taking 13th at Virginia International Raceway, the pair scored three top-10 finishes before returning to the podium at Daytona. Prior to this season, Zonta’s only Rolex Series race was last August at Infineon Raceway, where he led a lap and finished fifth with Zonta.
