With less than three months to go, plans are quickly falling into place for the second running of the Gulf 12 Hours.

No fewer than a dozen entries have been confirmed over the past ten days, including a brace of GT3 cars that are set to take part in sports car enduro on Dec. 12-14 at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Inaugural winners AF Corse confirmed it will bring four Ferrari F458 Italia GT3s to defend its crown, including two under the AF-Waltrip banner, with a to-be-announced driver lineup.

Former European Le Mans Series LMP2 champions ASM Team will make its race debut with a McLaren MP4-12C. Karim Ojjeh, who took class honors in last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, is the first confirmed driver for the Portuguese squad thus far.

Two additional McLarens are expected to be run by United Autosports, who will join Kessel Racing as returnees to the event. Having finished runner-up last year, Kessel aims to bring three Ferraris to the event this year, but has already confirmed a two-car effort.

Veteran Italian touring car squad Roal Motorsport has also confirmed a BMW Z4 GT3 entry, while Avelon Formula, overall pole-sitters of the first event, will return with two Wolf GB08s in the FIA CN2 category.

The second running of the event will see a maximum field of 44 cars, including 20 GT3 entries and a selection of GT4, GT Cup and CN2 machinery.

An official entry list is expected to be released in the next few weeks.
