United Autosports heads into this weekend's Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour with a strengthened driver lineup, following confirmation that open-wheel rising star Brendon Hartley will join the Anglo-American squad for the around-the-clock Australian enduro.

The 23-year-old New Zealand native, fresh off his debut in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, will join team regulars Mark Patterson and Alain Li in their Audi R8 LMS ultra.

Hartley brings a wealth of success to the team, including the 2007 World Series by Renault - Eurocup 2.0 title, as well as experience in F1 and sports cars. However, it will mark his first time in a GT car.

"As a Kiwi I have always wanted to race at Bathurst so I am very excited that I have this opportunity," Hartley said. "It will also be my debut in a GT car with the Audi so I am looking forward the challenge. United Autosports are a top professional team so I'm sure we can get up to speed quickly and be in a position to aim for a top result. I'm really looking forward to it".

U.S.-based Patterson, who joined Li and Frank Yu for last year's Bathurst 12 Hour, is looking forward to returning to the famed Mt. Panorama.

"Teaming up with United Autosports and my reliable partner Alain Li again at one of the world's most challenging race tracks is a real thrill," he said. "Last year we weren't able to finish the race despite some solid early stints, so seeing this one through in a field twice as deep is our primary objective.

"Promoter James O'Brien has worked hard on promoting this event, traveling the world, and this deep field shows his effort has paid off."

Fifty cars are set to take part in this year's running, set to begin Sunday at 7 a.m. local (Saturday, 3 p.m. ET), with live streaming video coverage available at: http://www.bathurst12hour.com.au/
