American road race team Insight Racing is extending its competition activities into Europe with a campaign in the 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series.

The move to European endurance competition is a natural next step for Insight Racing, building on a successful 2011 debut with a two-car effort in the Grand-Am Continental Sports Car Challenge.

"We feel endurance races are the toughest to win and showcase a team's capabilities better than anything else," says team director and principal Gilbert Lynagh. "This European campaign will give us an opportunity to shine; ultimately, we want to become the global expert in long-distance endurance races."

The team will field a Ferrari 458 Italia built to top GT3 specification by the prestigious Michelotto factory, in Italy, and further developed by Insight Racing. They will contest the series' competitive Pro/Am Cup. Lynagh and the team's two additional principals, Chris Dillon and Michael Dayton, say the European expansion begins an exciting next stage in the team's evolution.

The Blancpain Endurance Series format offers professional and gentlemen drivers the opportunity to compete together on the most prestigious race circuits in the world. The 24 Hours of Spa, at the end of July, will be the highlight of the 2012 calendar, which also features three-hour races at Monza, Silverstone, Paul Ricard and the Nurburgring. A sixth venue is yet to be announced.

Professional driver Martin Jensen, who pilots Insight Racing's BMW M3 in the United States, will partner with fellow Dane Dennis Andersen for the Blancpain Endurance Series.

Although Andersen is new to Insight Racing, Jensen has worked as mentor and coach to him for several years through a European Ferrari Challenge campaign with Ferrari of Denmark. The team's objective is a top finish in the Pro/Am category, but they are also aiming to be competitive in the overall rankings.

"Our goal is to finish in the top-three overall at some point this year," said Jensen. "It will be possible and I think it's realistic."

Insight Racing's operational philosophy merges strong business principles with a passion for motorsport. Expertise developed through Lynagh's corporate investment background informs the structure and strategy of the team, which is fast becoming a formidable professional racing organization.

"Racing, like business, requires an intense level of focus and commitment to your principles," says Lynagh. "Whether the win comes on the track or in the boardroom, the sense of achievement is fantastic and we look forward to building this new operation in Europe."

The team will run the European program out of their new, dedicated 5,000 square-foot (460 square-meter) facility in Copenhagen, Denmark, and employ the best talent from both the United States and Europe to manage the effort together. Team Principal Lynagh looks to capitalize on the team's American resources to give the European operation the advantage in this new venture.
