With the FIA GT1 World Championship season-opener less than two weeks away, seats are quickly filling up for the new-look global series, which adapts to GT3-spec machinery for 2012.

AF Corse is the latest team to announce its driver lineup, with Ferrari ace Toni Vilander confirmed Wednesday as its fourth and final driver. The two-time FIA GT2 champion joins Francesco Castellacci, Enzo Ide and Filip Salaquarda at the wheel of the Italian team's GT3-spec Ferrari F458 Italias.

"Toni is one of the best drivers in the GT world," said team owner Amato Ferrari. "During his brilliant career, he has won a lot, always delivering a great contribution to obtain results.

"His presence will also be a benchmark and an incentive for the other drivers of AF Corse in the FIA GT1."

Vilander is no stranger to AF Corse, having been a team regular since 2006. The Finn was slated to focus on the American Le Mans Series this year prior to Risi Competizione's withdrawal from full-season competition.

He kicked off the 2012 season with Risi at the Rolex 24 and also joined Gianmaria Bruni and Giancarlo Fisichella in the FIA World Endurance Championship opener in Sebring earlier this month aboard an AF Corse Prancing Horse.

"I am happy to join this new adventure, at the pinnacle of international motorsport, with a very competitive car and with a team of great quality," Vilander said. "The championship will be very tight and I cannot wait to start to work for a great season".

Eighteen cars from nine teams are expected for the season-opening round in Nogaro, France on April 9.
