Belgian Audi Club Team WRT completed a perfect weekend in Nogaro, taking a 1-2 finish in Monday's Championship Race in Nogaro.

Stephane Ortelli and Laurens Vanthoor kicked off their FIA GT1 World Championship championship chase with a sweep of the weekend, with the young Belgian crossing the line 3.731 seconds ahead of the sister Audi of Oliver Jarvis in another incident-free 60-minute race.

While quick pit work got the No. 33 Audi of Jarvis out front, Vanthoor clearly had the faster car and managed to get around his teammate with 16 minutes remaining.

It resulted in another dominant performance for WRT, which enjoyed a 1-2 sweep in both Qualifying and Championship races for its pair of Audi R8 LMS Ultras.

"It's a dream weekend," Ortelli said. "The sister car was also very quick. We had a very good start but it was not so easy out there. Today was a dry race but the car reacted very well."

The team's No. 33 Audi, meanwhile had to settle for second again after again struggling in the later stages of the race, but this time under sunny skies.

"I'm a little bit disappointed not to get the win," Jarvis said. "I struggled with the car but to come away with two podiums is good."

The No. 38 All-Inkl.com Munnich Motorsport Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 of Marc Basseng and Markus Winkelhock finished third, aided by an early race drive-through penalty for the No. 3 AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia of Toni Vilander, who jumped the start.

The German squad's second gull-winged beast of Nicky Pastorelli and Thomas Jager was fourth, escaping a potential pit lane penalty of its own.

Vilander and co-driver Filip Salaquarda settled for a sixth place result, behind teammates Enzo Ide and Francesco Castellacci, who completed the top-five.

It resulted in a two-by-two finish for the Audis, Mercedes, Ferraris and pair of Reiter Engineering Lamborghinis, which finished seventh and eighth, respectively.

The GT1 World Championship heads to Zolder, Belgium on May 20-22 for the second round of the season.

RESULTS: Championship Race
