It's been a while since I wrote to tell you about what I’ve been up to, but I felt like it was time to give you an update. As you all know I’m fortunate to drive for Krohn Racing in the WEC with a Ferrari 458 Italia car with my good friend and co driver Tracy Krohn and Michele Rugolo.

I’m writing to you from the plane coming back from the most recent WEC race in Belgium and the phenomenal track of Spa Francorchamps!

We had a very difficult weekend with cold and rainy weather. Our difficulties were all around not being able to get any tire temp in to the tires. Our Krohn engineer and crew worked really hard all weekend changing the setup on the car to some extreme setups that you normally would not even think of, but we had to try everything possible.

We made improvements but would never get the car to handle good enough to be a contender for the win this weekend. We ran a very conservative race to try score as many points as possible for the championship. As always, the Krohn Racing /Aviation Ferrari F458 was perfectly prepared and worked perfect all weekend from a mechanical standpoint.

Our next race in the WEC is the "Big One", the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the middle of June. And you can be sure about one thing, we will be ready and as prepared as you can be.

In addition to the WEC racing, I also race in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series, in the Street Tuner class. My teammate is one of the most successful sports car drivers in the world, Andy Lally, and we co-drive the Kinetic Motorsports/ KIA Racing Infinity-sponsored Kia Forte Koup.

We've done three races in the Continental Tire Series so far with the last one being Homestead two weeks ago. The weather conditions were also very difficult with rain all morning and a wet track when the green flag dropped. Our two KIA Forte Koups starting from the front row for the KIA 200 Grand Prix of Miami. We decided to make a few setup changes on the grid after looking at the weather radar that showed more rain through the afternoon.

This did not quite turn out to be true, and as soon as the green flag dropped the rain stopped and track dried up in the next 35 minutes. So when it was time for me to get in around the 40 minute mark, we put the slicks on and we had a pretty difficult afternoon but were able to fight our way through the race with a 4th place finish and valuable points for the championship. We left Homestead with the points lead and really looking forward to the next race in New Jersey this upcoming weekend.

Besides my own racing, my Kinetic Motorsports team has also had several races with our new KIA Optima World Challenge program with a couple of podium finishes already in the first year with a new program.

I’m also been trying to spend some time with my family and get my little son, Max, learn how to bike without support wheels. It’s a challenge but he’s getting there. He sure has a temper! I’m pretty calm, but I know someone that has the temper I see in him when things don’t go 100% smooth…like learning how to bike!

You will be hearing more frequently from me now as we move into the busy season. Please be careful and take care of each other.

Thank you for all your support and great notes all of you send me on Facebook, letters etc.

Till next time.

Nic
