With exactly 33 cars prepared to make the 2012 Indy 500 field, nine cars added to the 24 that qualified on Saturday, with Sebastien Bourdais going fastest in his Dragon Racing Chevy.

The Frenchman qualified for his second 500 event in 25th with an average speed of 223.760.

“The run was good," he said. "I just wish it had been yesterday, and we’d be quite a bit higher up on the grid. We haven’t really changed the car at all. The balance has been good. The speed varied a lot from Saturday, and we can’t quite figure out why. I’m just happy that the TrueCar-McAfee entry is in the show. I’m glad to be with Chevrolet and looking forward to the rest of the season.”

With two cars needing to qualify on Sunday, rookie Wade Cunningham led A.J. Foyt's Honda-powered duo in P26.

“It was nice to go out and get in the field," said the rather grumpy Kiwi. "It’s disappointing because, from my side, instead of doing the maximum, we’re basically doing the minimum to get in, and that’s not how I enjoy racing. We didn’t come here to be field-fillers."

Oriol Servia recovered after his qualifying warmup crash on Saturday to set the third-fastest lap of the day.

"To win it you've got to get in it and we just wanted to get in the race, so we put a lot of downforce on the car and got the it in the show," he said. "The team did a great job and they were able to prepare the same car and that's what we were able to qualify with today. Yesterday we woke up hoping to be in the top nine and we thought that we had a good shot because we had good speed all week.

"Then we crashed and we really had to change our goals. All of a sudden your priority is to make sure that you are in the race and that's what we did this morning. We put a lot of down force in the car to make sure that we were consistent."

Ed Carpenter also make it back out after his big crash, as did Bryan Clauson, securing 28th and 31st on the grid, respectively.

Cunningham's teammate Mike Conway qualified 29th, ahead of Katherine Legge, who will start her first Indy 500 in 30th.

Lotus runners completed the final two spots, with Simona de Silvestro using an up-rated engine to run in the 214 mph range, four mph ahead of Jean Alesi's 210 mph average, which left the Frenchman 33rd for his Indy 500 debut.
