As noted in an IndyCar story earlier this month on SPEED.com, the move to energize IndyCar's broadcasts on cable TV next season with new and younger faces has received a major boost with the addition of veteran F1, sports car and V8 Supercars announcer Leigh Diffey.

Bob Jenkins, the respected longtime voice of the IndyCar Series, retired at the conclusion of the season in September, creating an opening for someone of Diffey's talents to fill the hosting and commentary duties when the new season starts at St. Petersburg on March 24.

Diffey will serve a variety of motorsports-related hosting needs in his new position, and the full details on IndyCar's 2013 broadcast team could come to light by the end of the year.

Will Buxton, who has offered exceptional insight and enthusiasm as a Formula One pit reporter, could also emerge on pit lane during IndyCar broadcasts--and in a similar multi-series capacity as Diffey.

Buxton's first direct duty with the IndyCar Series is scheduled to take place in December when he hosts the series' annual championship banquet in Indianapolis.
