INDYCAR: IndyCar Set For 15-Race Schedule In 2012
The final schedule is light on ovals and shorter than last season with 15 confirmed races but it’s not because Randy Bernard didn’t try to fatten it up.

The Canadian swing of Toronto and Edmonton will be the only races in July but August is crowded with Mid-Ohio, a new street race in Qingdao, China and Sonoma, Calif. a week later.

Despite its financial woes, Baltimore remains on the calendar for Labor Day weekend while Fontana is set for a night race on Sept. 15.

It will be the smallest schedule since 14 races were held in ’06 and IndyCar’s all-time low was nine events in 2000.

PROJECTED 2012 SCHEDULE

March 25 – St. Petersburg
April 1 – Birmingham, Ala.
April 15 – Long Beach
April 29 – Sao Paulo, Brazil

June 23 – Newton, Iowa

Aug. 5 – Mid-Ohio
