SPEED.com kicks off its driver-by-driver review of the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series season with some help from the driver who placed 26th in the championship.

Katherine Says:

Highlight of the Year: I would probably say that's probably three of them. First of all, getting back into IndyCar racing after being in DTM, finding a sponsor in TrueCar, and showing everybody that we have the speed.

Lowlight of the Year: My lowlight of the year would have to be the fact that we started off with the wrong engine package and because of that didn't get any testing or experience that we needed.

What Needs Improvement for 2013?: We had two days testing the whole of last season. So I think the area for improvement should be if we get some more testing then we will know about the car but I think it's more that I will learn more, especially on road courses. Having made the transition from DTM to open-wheel, it’s very different with the downforce levels and the way that you drive the cars.

If we have a good car and I've had enough testing, then we can go faster. If I have time in the car to learn these things and to refresh my memory of my open-wheel days, then it will show in the results.
