Team Penske's Will Power made the most of this morning's hour-long dry practice session, posting a 1:10.75-second lap to lead all 26 runners.

After losing any meaningful running during the wet Friday sessions, Power, who has three consecutive poles at the 11-turn, 1.9-mile street course, will have a way to go to match his pole lap of 1:09.06 seconds set last year.

With very little data to draw from on the new Dallara DW12 around the southern California circuit, dipping into the 1:08-second bracket could take a heroic lap.

Behind Power, Chevrolet-engined cars dominated the top five with Andretti Autosport's Ryan Hunter-Reay .017 seconds adrift in second, Penske's Helio Castroneves in third with a 1:10.96, KV Racing's E.J. Viso in fourth with a 1:11.00 and Marco Andretti in fifth with a 1:11.02 second lap.

Target Chip Ganassi Racing's Scott Dixon continued the trend of being the fastest Honda-powered drivers, taking sixth with a lap of 1:11.10, .34 seconds behind Power.

Sebastein Bourdais, the only driver of note to try Firestone Reds, was the fastest Lotus runner in 19th, 1.63 seconds off Power with a best lap of 1:12.38.

Reigning series champion Dario Franchitti also continued a familiar trend, ending the session one spot behind Bourdais in 20th.

The session was marked with numerous red flags, starting with a nose-first trip into the barriers for James Hinchcliffe. Approximately half of the session was lost to stoppages.
