The pole winner for today's 85-lap Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach topped the cool, overcast 30-minute morning warm up session with a lap of 1:10.795.

Dreyer & Reinbold's Justin Wilson posted the second fastest time with a 1:10.430, followed by Alex Tagliani in the No. 77 Sam Schmidt Motorsports entry.

Tagliani's 1:10.795 led Team Penske's Helio Castroneves whose lap of 1:10.944 earned fourth in the session.

Simona De Silvestro, who starts 18th, rounded out the top 5 with a lap of 1:10.965.

With lower ambient temperatures also expected for the race, most teams spent time in the warm up scuffing their Firestone Reds to help provide better grip in the race.

Surprises during the session were few, with exception to Marco Andretti placing 20th and Oriol Servia, who qualified fourth, down in P21.
