For the second day in a row, Rahal Letterman Lanigan’s Takuma Sato led the nine drivers present at Sebring, posting a 51.98-second lap in his Dallara DW12-Honda.

“We had another very productive day,” said Sato. “We ran more mileage than yesterday and made good progress through the whole day. We carried on with the test plan from yesterday and learned many things. I feel we really moved forward over the course of the testing. It was little windy but the track stayed very consistent which helped a lot.

"The team did a really great job and we had a solid four days of testing (including two day earlier in the week at Barber) with no major issue(s). I am very pleased with our start; the testing has gone smoothly so far.”

The Sebring test was comprised of six Honda entries—one from RLL for Sato, one from Sam Schmidt Motorsports for Simon Pagenaud and four from Ganassi Racing for Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon, Graham Rahal and Charlie Kimball.

Two Lotus teams were also present, as Dreyer & Reinbold Racing (with Oriol Servia) and HVM Racing (with Simona de Silvestro) tested their respective DW12s for the first time, and Dragon Racing's Katherine Legge got her first laps in the factory Lotus DW12.

Rahal was once again fastest of the Ganassi brigade on Thursday with a 52.4-second tour of the 1.6-mile, 17-turn facility, but did not run on Friday. Dixon eclipsed Rahal’s time by 0.4 on Friday, and Kimball was said to have matched Rahal’s 52.4.

Dario Franchitti missed most of Thursday’s running, but got up to speed and had a productive day on Friday, clocking a 52.1-second lap.

Pagenaud was said to have been on pace with Sato.

In the Lotus camp, Servia recorded a 53.3-second lap on Thursday as the engine manufacturer continued to work through the steep learning curve with its new motor.

Servia completed an additional 75 laps on Friday, and reported that the DRR team was working quickly to understand its DW12.

“I’d say we are making fast progress with the chassis,” he told SPEED.com. “Not so much that we are learning everything at once, but that we are getting a feel for how it reacts and responds to changes in a general way.

"We also worked a lot with the people from Lotus and are trying to build our entire database about the car as quickly as possible.”
