After displaying concussion-like symptoms after her qualifying crash at Milwaukee, the IZOD IndyCar Series has not cleared Simona De Silvestro to drive this weekend.

Earlier in the week, SPEED.com reported De Silvestro's HVM Racing team ordered the young Swiss driver to take two to three days of rest to recover from the after effects of the two rearward impacts she suffered at The Milwaukee Mile.

De Silvestro addressed some aspects of the crash in her SPEED.com column on Tuesday.

While De Silvestro was not diagnosed with a concussion at the time of her crash, symptoms began to manifest the following day, including her admission that she did not recall the accident.

According to a statement released by the IZOD IndyCar Series, De Silvestro's conditions worsened after her initial exam at Milwaukee on Saturday.

"Upon evaluation Sunday morning at Milwaukee, Simona had no physical signs of a concussion after the neurological exam and didn't report any post-concussion symptoms to the INDYCAR medical team so she was cleared to drive. After taking 11 laps in the car, Simona returned to the care center reporting post-concussion symptoms. Physical and emotional stress can bring out post-concussion symptoms."

With IndyCar's medical ruling coming so close to the start of practice, the team reported it will not look for a replacement driver to pilot the No. 78 Nuclear Clean Air Energy car at Iowa, and plans to return with De Silvestro for the next round in Toronto.
