Tony George has been reinstated to the Hulman & Company board of directors for the second time in recent years.

"The shareholders re-elected all 10 members who served the most recent term on the board with the addition of Anton "Tony" H. George, who previously has served on the board," read a statement from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

"In addition to George, Hulman & Company board members re-elected include John F. Ackerman, Jeffrey G. Belskus, Mari Hulman George, Nancy L. George, M. Josephine George, Katherine M. George-Conforti, Andre B. Lacy, Mark D. Miles, James T. Morris and Michael L. Smith. Tony George resigned from the Hulman & Company board in October 2012 due to an appearance of a conflict of interest. Now that the appearance of conflict no longer exists, the shareholders have re-elected him to the board."

George resigned his position on the Hulman & Co. board last October after it was revealed he had formed a group to try and take control of the IndyCar Series, and did so without disclosing his intentions ahead of time.

George also resigned his position as CEO of IMS and Hulman & Co. in June of 2009 after a civil war broke out between the Indy Racing League founder and his sisters. George was reinstated in February of 2011 and served as a board member until his most recent resignation.

With a board that is now heavily bolstered with members that come from outside the Hulman George family, George's influence has been diluted. Mark Miles, who serves on the board and was elevated to George's former post as CEO of Hulman & Co., has been tasked with dictating policy and carrying the company forward since accepting the top post last November.
