KANAAN: Things Will Get Better
Hi guys. Sorry for taking some time away from my column, but if you saw my crash at Indy and how the next few races went…

Read the latest exclusive columns from Franchitti, Kanaan, Briscoe and Hunter-Reay. (LAT) ยป More Photos

"I don’t talk a lot about being a dad because that’s a very different part of my life than what people see for me at the race track, but my son Leonardo is an incredible joy for me. Getting away from my “day job” to become dad is a big motivation for me. It’s the same for a lot of people in IndyCar. Everyone goes like hell for their job then goes home to the comfort of their kids and families."

FRANCHITTI: Carrying Helmets And Spraying Champagne
It has been a busy few weeks! I raced at Texas, tested at Iowa, went to Le Mans to support my brother, and came back to win at Iowa on Sunday.

"The championship is maybe starting to maybe shape up as a four-way fight. You can never count out Dixie. If he and Helio hadn’t had contact, I'm sure he’d have been in the fight. Ryan’s always a pain and Helio too. Week in, week out, whatever kind of track, they’re there. Add in TK, Wheldon, and Danica, and there are a few others in the mix too."

BRISCOE: Inching Closer At Iowa
We really seem to be on a roll these past few races. I had a great car right out of the blocks once again – my guys get all the credit for that.

"I think finishing second was another great result for us. We’ve earned second-places the past three races as well as led the most laps, so I can’t complain. It’s clear we’re running fast and consistent, so hopefully we can keep doing what we’re doing and one of these days we’re going to lead the last lap!"

HUNTER-REAY: Racing With A Legend
A lot has changed since my last update. I’m now “on loan” to ABC Supply Racing (AJ Foyt Racing) from Vision for the remainder of the season.

"I had met AJ briefly in the past and at several tracks over the past couple years we crossed paths and shook hands, but I was really looking forward to sitting down and really getting to know him and work with him. Unfortunately he didn’t make it to the track Friday, so I sat down with him early Saturday morning before practice. He’s like no one else I know. First, the guy is a legend; he’s seen it all, been there, done it and won it."
