Jim Russell Racing Drivers School has announced an extraordinary chance to win a half season of racing – a $41,250 value – in the 2008 Jim Russell Racing Championship Series at Infineon Raceway. Driven by a philosophy that a career in motorsports should be as merit-based as possible, the 2008 Jim Russell Scholarship Run-Off offers amateur drivers a chance to win a half season of racing, including world-class instruction and track time on Northern California’s premier race track. Scholarship winners who elect to complete the 2008 season will be in position to win one full season of racing in the 2009 Jim Russell Championship Series. The scholarship run-off will take place at Infineon Raceway April 19 and 20, 2008 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. For more information, visit www.jimrussellusa.com or call 1-800-733-0345. The deadline to sign up for the Scholarship Run-Off is April 16, 2008.

The Scholarship Run-Off is open to drivers of all ages with a qualified license (SCCA, IMSA, or FIA Grade C or above). Drivers will experience a full day of evaluation, including car fitting, several on-track sessions, instruction and debriefing, and drive in the new, custom-designed FJR-50s (Formula Jim Russell-50 years), the official car of the Jim Russell Championship Series. The run-off will have two competition classes – a class for drivers age 35 and under and a class for drivers age 36 and over. Drivers will be judged on speed, smoothness, consistency, driving style, reaction to feedback and professionalism. The winner of each class will be awarded a half season of racing in the 2008 Jim Russell Championship Series.

“This is the first time in the school’s history that the Scholarship Run-off will be open to drivers of all ages,” said Chip Pankow, president of Emotive Group, owners of the revamped Jim Russell Racing Drivers School. “This gives talented drivers both young and old a shot at a half season of racing, working with top-notch, race-seasoned instructors, and the chance to move up to the next level of motorsport competition.”

There are 24 spots available in the Scholarship Run-Off at a cost of $3,495 each. All drivers enrolled in the Scholarship Run-Off are required to complete a test day on April 17 or 18 for an
additional $2,895. Drivers will have the option to select their preferred test day and evaluation day upon enrollment.

About the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School
In 2006, Emotive purchased the Jim Russell Racing Schools from Infineon Raceway and renamed it Jim Russell Racing Drivers School. Infused with a $10 million capital investment and appointed with a new fleet of custom-designed formula cars, a talented staff of world-class racing instructors, a state-of-the art facility, and cutting-edge curriculum, Jim Russell Racing Drivers School is primed to emerge as the premier racing school in the world while providing an unsurpassed experience that caters to aspiring racing drivers, motorsports enthusiasts and thrill-seekers of all stripes.

The newly re-engineered Jim Russell program, from the racing school to the coaching in the Jim Russell Championship Series, emphasizes the importance of making every corner of every lap count and aims to instill an intense self-evaluation process so its drivers are best prepared to successfully evolve in their racing careers. A racing school first and foremost, Jim Russell offers a complete driver training program that includes instruction from some of the finest coaches in the world, technical instruction from industry leaders, and educational seminars on a variety of topics and skills central to modern racecar driving. With its world-class coaching, fast and progressive racecars and state-of-the-art data acquisition technology, the Jim Russell Championship Series takes drivers through a steep learning curve and provides them with the tools to become complete, well-rounded racing drivers.

The custom-designed FJR-50 (Formula Jim Russell-50 years) has been purpose-built to be the ideal learning platform for drivers. Based on Lola’s championship-winning B06-30 Formula 3 car, the FJR-50 provides a modern, relevant link to the cars used at the top levels of motorsport with its carbon-fiber chassis, Pi Research delta data acquisition system, modern aerodynamics and scalable horsepower. The car exceeds FIA Formula 3 crash tests, thereby making it one of the safest racing platforms available. By training and racing in the FJR-50, drivers will be well-prepared for the upper levels of motorsport.
