LE MANS: ADR-Delta Enters WEC With Oreca Nissan
As many as 12 LMP2 entries now expected for the FIA World Endurance Championship...

With Wednesday’s entry request deadline looming, there has been a flurry of new team announcements for the FIA World Endurance Championship. The latest has come from Delta Motorsport and Alan Docking Racing, which have joined forces to field an Oreca 03 Nissan in the global sports car championship.
The effort, to be known as ADR-Delta, will compete in the LMP2 category with drivers John Martin, Robbie Kerr and Tor Graves. The two organizations have previously worked together in Superleague, earning 50 podium finishes over the past three seasons.
“We looked at lots of different championships for 2012 but it was soon clear that the WEC was the only one offering us the opportunity to grow and innovate, the work that the FIA and ACO have done to put the championship together makes it a very exciting series,” Docking said.
The British squad has declared aspirations of eventually moving up to the LMP1 category, to utilize a form of hybrid technology that Audi, Peugeot and Toyota are all expected to run this year.
“This is a fantastic initiative by the ACO, with the rules written in a way to encourage engineers to design energy efficient systems for fuel saving and emission reduction mode rather than just a performance addition, it is the right time to engage with energy efficient motorsport technologies which will benefit the general public road car vehicles in years to come,” said Delta Motorsport managing director Simon Dowson.
The complete WEC entry list, likely to feature in upwards of 35 full-season entries, will be unveiled on Feb. 2 in Paris.
