Audi Sport Team Joest led the in the first official practice for Saturday's 60th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The No. 3 Audi R18 TDI of Romain Dumas jumped to the top of the time sheets, turning a 1:48.626 lap time in the Frenchman's 2011-spec machine.

However, the 60-minute session saw the gasoline-powered LMP1s edge closer to the leading diesels, as the No. 6 Muscle Milk Pickett Racing HPD ARX-03a of Lucas Luhr posted a 1:49.762 lap time, which was good enough for second overall.

Audi's No. 1 machine of Marcel Fassler, Benoit Treluyer and Andre Lotterer wound up third, ahead of the No. 12 Rebellion Racing Lola B11/60 Toyota in fourth. The No. 2 Audi of Tom Kristensen completed the top-five, nearly three-seconds adrift from Duval's best time.

With 64 cars on track, traffic again played a key factor in achieving fast laps, with the times in all nine classes not truly indicative of their performance potentials.

The No. 055 Level 5 Motorsports HPD ARX-03b of Scott Tucker, Christophe Bouchut and Joao Barbosa led the way in P2, posting a 1:52.680 in the ALMS-entered machine.

Quickest of the FIA WEC LMP2 runners was the No. 25 ADR-Delta Oreca 03 Nissan or Tor Graves, who was nearly four-tenths down on Level 5's best time.

Oliver Gavin led the way in GT, putting his No. 4 Corvette C6.R on the top of the time sheets, ahead of defending ALMS champions BMW Team RLL, with its No. 56 BMW M3 GT of Joey Hand.

Leading the way in the FIA WEC GTE-Pro category was the No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia of Giancarlo Fisichella, less than one-tenth behind Gavin's ALMS pace-setting lap.

Luxury Racing led the way in GTE-Am, while Muscle Milk Pickett Racing (PC) and Alex Job Racing (GTC) paced their respective ALMS challenge categories.

The one-hour session saw three red flags, the first for the No. 5 Muscle Milk Oreca FLM09 of Mike Guasch, who stopped in Turn 10. David Heinemeier Hanasson also later spun and stopped in Turn 10, which brought out the second red.

The third red was for an unidentified car ran that into the barriers in Turn 17 with less than 10 minutes to go.

Practice 2 is on tap for 2:50 p.m. ET.
