Despite having earned his second 24 Hours of Le Mans class victory in 2011 and securing the European Le Mans Series LMP2 title for Greaves Motorsport, Tom Kimber-Smith remains without a ride for this year’s French endurance classic.

The 27-year-old British star, who made a comeback to professional racing last year, has secured a drive with Greaves again in the ELMS, pairing with second-generation racer Alex Brundle. But his seat will be taken by Alex’s father, F1 and sports car veteran Martin, for the 24-hour French classic in June.

“To race at Le Mans again in any class would be pretty good,” Kimber-Smith told SPEED.com at last weekend's 24 Hours of Dubai, where he drove a JRM Racing Nissan GT-R GT3.

“I've won GT2 and LMP2, so there's really only LMP1 left. I'd like to. I'm speaking to a couple of teams about some possibilities, but nothing is set in gold yet.

Kimber-Smith admitted that options at Le Mans are limited, considering that all cars entered in the FIA World Endurance Championship are given an automatic entry to Le Mans. As many as 35 full-season entries are expected for the global sports car championship, which kicks off at the Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.

“It's very hard with this World Endurance Championship now, because it's part of the championship, if you're not already doing the championship, it's very hard to get into it,” he added.

The ACO will reveal its list of entry selections for Le Mans and the WEC on Feb. 2. Entry requests close on Wednesday at midnight.

“Once the list comes out and I know which teams are doing [Le Mans], especially the teams not doing the World Endurance Championship, then there's more options that way.”
