With Stephane Sarrazin having signed with Toyota for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Starworks Motorsport has recruited Tom Kimber-Smith as its third driver for next month's twice-around-the-clock French classic.

The two-time Le Mans class winner joins Ryan Dalziel and Enzo Potolicchio aboard the team's HPD ARX-03b, which kicked off the FIA World Endurance Championship season with a LMP2 class win, and overall podium finish, at the Twelve Hours of Sebring.

"When we were looking for drivers we put a strong emphasis many criteria," explained team owner Peter Baron. "When we factored in Le Mans results, prototype experience, and professionalism and flexibility plugging into an existing program, Tom was at the top of our list. No doubt our goals are to win both Le Mans and the WEC championship. We feel strongly that Tom is the driver that can help us best."

Kimber-Smith has been a busy driver in 2012, having started the year off in the European Le Mans Series with his 2011 Le Mans class-winning team, Greaves Motorsport, and also making his debut with CORE autosport in the American Le Mans Series earlier this month at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

But his ELMS ride with Greaves did not include a seat in the team's Zytek-Nissan for Le Mans, which put the defending class winner on the sidelines in the world's most prestigious endurance race, until now.

“I am extremely excited to be taking part in Le Mans again this year," Kimber-Smith said. "I’ve known Peter Baron for several years now and he always runs highly professional and successful teams.

"I saw first hand at Sebring this year how good Starworks Motorsport is, when they scored such a great result after only knowing the car for a short amount of time. Enzo and Ryan are great teammates and I cannot wait to get out there!"

Kimber-Smith will get his first taste of Starworks' HPD ARX-03b at the official Le Mans Test Day on June 3.
